防灾科技学院始建于1975年，隶属于中国地震局，位于北京东燕郊国家高新技术产业开发区，是我国仅有的以防灾减灾高等教育为主，具有理、工、经、管、文等学科门类的综合性普通高等学校。2011年被教育部列为培养硕士专业学位研究生试点工作建设单位和第二批“卓越工程师教育培养计划”高校。
